چکیده
Cerenkov luminescence imaging (CLI) has been recently proposed as a method to visualize surgical margins in the operating theater, immediately after resection, allow refining surgery single procedure. Our group is preparing pilot clinical study evaluate impact of CLI during hepatic metastasectomy, using 18 F-FDG and 68 Ga-DOTATOC. Currently, we are optimizing protocol terms patient inclusion criteria, activity inject, maximum allowed delay for imaging, radiation monitoring. This paper describes preliminary have performed define protocol. The composed two branches: 1) an in-vitro predict typical signals optical attenuation liver with F Ga, 2) analysis PET/CT data determine values relevant parameters, such uptake lesion dimension. combined information by these branches gives us indication feasibility margin assessment metastasectomy. For obtained detection limits ranging from 0.55 3.5 kBq/cc, be compared minimum mean uptakes 1.6 7 respectively. F, ranged 12 145 were 5 11 From values, expect Ga able detect most patients, while activities inject sufficient signal-to-noise ratio should larger than standards, or time between injection largely reduced. results reported here can useful also more general, studies dedicated other applications liver.

We demonstrate feasibility of endoscopic imaging of Cerenkov light originated when charged nuclear particles, emitted from radionuclides, travel through a biological tissue of living subjects at superluminal velocity. The endoscopy imaging system consists of conventional optical fiber bundle/ clinical endoscopes, an optical imaging lens system, and a sensitive low-noise charge coupled device (C...

Cerenkov luminescence imaging (CLI) is a cost-effective molecular imaging tool for biomedical applications of radiotracers. The introduction of Cerenkov luminescence tomography (CLT) relative to planar CLI can be compared to the development of X-ray CT based on radiography. With CLT, quantitative and localized analysis of a radiopharmaceutical distribution becomes feasible. In this contribution...

UNLABELLED The development of novel multimodality imaging agents and techniques represents the current frontier of research in the field of medical imaging science. However, the combination of nuclear tomography with optical techniques has yet to be established. Here, we report the use of the inherent optical emissions from the decay of radiopharmaceuticals for Cerenkov luminescence imaging (CL...

In vivo Cerenkov luminescence imaging is a rapidly growing molecular imaging research field based on the detection of Cerenkov radiation induced by beta particles when traveling though biological tissues. We investigated theoretically the possibility of enhancing the number of the detected Cerenkov photons in the near infrared (NIR) region of the spectrum. The analysis is based on applying a ph...

UNLABELLED Cerenkov luminescence imaging (CLI) can provide high-resolution images of (18)F-FDG-avid tumors but requires prolonged acquisition times because of low photon sensitivity. In this study, we proposed a new modality, termed β-radioluminescence imaging (β-RLI), which incorporates a scintillator with a γ-rejection strategy for imaging β particles. We performed a comparative evaluation of...
